Mitsubishi Chemical says that it has developed the world’s first bio-based polycarbonate diol (PCD), a type of high-performance polyol, and will begin market development and sales for the product in April 2015. Polycarbonate diol is the raw material used to produce resins such as polyurethane (PU), propylene(PP),polyester (PO). Mitsubishi says it uses proprietary manufacturing processes to produce the product. The material has great performances in mechanical strength, low temperature flexibility, chemical resistance, abrasion resistant and hardness. It is said to be the world first bio-based polycarbonate diol (PCD).
